1. Who We Are
CarCar is an AI-powered used-car marketplace operated by CarCar. We connect car buyers with verified dealers across Australia, with a focus on the Chinese-Australian community.

2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Google Sign-In account information: your name, email address and profile picture, as provided by Google.
- Email registration account information: your name and email address.
- Sell My Car submissions: seller name, phone number, vehicle details (make, model, year, odometer reading, condition, expected price), vehicle photos, and registration plate and state.
- Dealer enquiry information: messages and contact details you provide when submitting an enquiry to a dealer.
- Usage data: pages viewed, search queries and other interactions with the platform.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the platform — account login, browsing listings, and submitting enquiries.
- To connect car sellers with verified dealers through the Sell My Car feature.
- To improve and maintain the platform based on usage patterns.
4. Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following limited circumstances:
Sell My Car — Dealer Visibility
When you submit a Sell My Car request, your vehicle details and photos are shared with verified dealers on the platform so they can express interest in purchasing your car.
Contact Release Control
By default (On Request mode), your phone number is notshared with dealers until you explicitly approve a specific dealer's interest. If you choose Direct Contact mode, verified dealers can see your phone number directly. You control this setting.
Service Providers
We use Supabase as our database and file storage provider to operate the service. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure.
5. Overseas / Cross-Border Data Storage
Your data is stored using Supabase infrastructure, which may be located outside Australia. By using the CarCar service, you acknowledge that your information may be stored and processed in servers located overseas, and may not have the same level of protection as under Australian law.
6. Google Sign-In
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. This information is used solely to create and authenticate your CarCar account. We do not access any other data from your Google account, and we do not share your Google account information with third parties.
7. Data Retention & Security
We retain your personal information for as long as it is needed to provide you with the service, or as required by law. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. However, no internet transmission is completely secure.
8. Your Rights
You may request to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time. To make such a request, please contact us at support@carcar.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of CarCar after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
